Post subject:  Linköping AB - Open Day 2009

Good morning to all!

This time, let us travell to the North, in the beautiful country of Sweden.
Every year, each of the remaining 4 airbases host a open day.
Last year, I was lucky enough, that during my vacations, the airbase of Linköping happans to be open :D

Linköping host the Air Force academy with Sk60 (Saab 105), the Helicopter Wing with Hkp9 (Bo105), Hkp14 (NH-90) and Hkp15 (A109) and the great Air Force Museum.
Unfortunately, the Museum was/is closed until this June. They build currently a 3rd hall!

Now, to the pictures:

1. The last active Sabreliner in Europe. It is in use, as a testbed for a new surface radar, if I understand correctly

Image

2. A ARGUS Awacs of the Swedish Air Force. We in Greece have the same, on Embraer 145´s

Image

3. The past and the future of the Swedish Helicopter Wing, Bo105 and A109

Image

4. The last active Hkp4 (Kavasaki 107) in Europe. Sadly, it is since January, no longer in duty ... Last, it was used by the Air Force Test command

Image

5. Gulfstream ELINT

7. A JAS-39C of the Air Force Test Centrum

8. The first Swedish Hkp14 (NH-90)

Image

9. The Sk60 (Saab 105) Team ready for departure

Image

10. A great veteran, a Saab 17 from WW2

11. The display of the Sk60 Team

Hope, you enjoyed a little the pictures. Sorry, for the quality. They appear darker here, then in reality ...

Regards
Marcus

Impressive photos!!!1 Love the Saab 17 (looks like a Nakajima B5N2) and the Saab 105!!!!! I only knew the Saab I dont remember the model but it was a twin tail pushing engiine... later updated to a jet engine I think is model 21 but don't remember... Excelent photos!!! nice travelin' any chance of photos of Saab Airliners? I really like the Saab Scandia

We do still have here operational Sabreliners here in Ecuador, they are DAMN noisy!!! It is so small but sounds louder than a Stage III 737-200

Dear Rodolfo,

thank you! From a aviation point of view, you are lucky in Ecuador. You still see each day, the best ever civil plane, Boeing 737-200, and nice jets like the Sabreliners! I have grown up flying with B737-200 of Olympic, through whole Europe. A pitty, that we don´t have any left in Europe ...

About the Saab´s, you are right. It´s the J21/A21.
In Europe we don´t have any Saab Scandia preserved. The only ones, are preserved/stored in Brazil. So, it´s up to you to have a look

Oh yeah on a further research.. yes it is the J21!!! I remember it very much, hundreds of flights in CFS2 flying the J21..

The 737-200.. is my fav too... I really enjoy every take off and every landing of those baby boeings here all day long.. sadly they won't be able to be around much more... noise reduction policies demand them to be replaced in the upcoming years.

The sabreliner is very hard to catch... but the other day I was in my auto maintenance near the 35 rwy in SEQU and I catch it taxiing and taking off... awfully loud!!! I had the oportunity like 2 years ago to watch this aircraft closely.. really nice aircraft...

Tell us... is there any greek made aircraft?
