Post subject:  SETM what is the proper approach to this runway?

I have added some pictures of two flights to SETM made this month in the 727-100. I forgot to turn on the NDB receivers and decided to try the approach with visual only at dusk. This first attempt did not work as well but the second did but quite the challenge. I would like to know what approach others take to this airport as I did have charts from the web but they did not have instructions on approach.

I have been trying this approach and it is very difficult. Glad for the Challenge and hope to make an instructional video after a couple of months practice. I took a video of one of my landings. not very pretty but did walk away from this one :D Passengers not happy I am sure

Flying in Ecuador is just a challenge for most of us, specially when flying to Tulcán, La Toma, Cuenca or Quito... And well, for sure many of our dear passengers may not be happy many times after our landings, or as I say in spanish, aterrorizajes, hahahaha...
Regards...
David

Ok here is the video of my most "aterrorizajes" landing  It starts at dusk on the 150 radial from NDB/LOJ with a right hand turn onto 255 heading. I was in the flight deck the whole time and using the TrakerIR for head movements. I turned on the video recording so you can see what I saw for the landing. I was not tight enough on my final turn which started too late. In the real world I would have gone missed approach but the fun of flight simulator is to push the limit and see if I could make the runway. The final results are not good but I would have walked away from the landing....without my pilots licence I am sure

Hi Geoff,
Try practicing any challeging approach with smaller aircraft until you get hand of it, then size up. With enough practice, landing the "bomber" into SETM will be a lot more rewarding. I've put DC10's in there (while thanking my imaginary corps of engineers whom resurfaced the runway to handle the heavier load  ). You can make it as real as it gets, or from time to time like I do...just have fun doing the improbable.

Rgds

PS....For a nominal fee, I can reinstate your license and as for the pax, they'll get over it.
